Ireland 2040 - National Planning Framework

  • Sligo Chamber welcomes launch of Project Ireland 2040 at Institute of Technology, Sligo
  • Plans expected to have long-term benefits for Sligo

Sligo Chamber of Commerce & Industry says local teamwork helped convince the Government to host the up-coming historic cabinet meeting at IT Sligo on Friday.
The Cabinet meeting, which begins at 11am, will be followed by the launch of both the National Planning Framework Ireland 2040 and the Capital Investment Plan. An Taoiseach Mr. Leo Varadkar T.D will lead the proceedings.
Having Sligo as the host town shows the impact of collective lobbying by Sligo Chamber of Commerce Industry Group and all the stakeholders including Northern and Western Regional Assembly, IT Sligo, IBEC North West, Western Development Commission, Local Authorities, Sligo BID and public representatives.
Des Faul, Sligo Chamber President, said hosting these political events represents a vote of confidence in Sligo and the surrounding area.
He said: “The launch of the National Planning Framework in Sligo is the single biggest announcement for the region and demonstrates the Government’s confidence in Sligo and North West Region as an economic growth centre”.
Sligo Chamber is the largest business membership organisation in the North West of Ireland, representing over 300 businesses and organisations in the Sligo region. The Chamber works to promote the long term economic development of the region in partnership with the relevant national, regional and local bodies and agencies. The aim is to create, maintain and develop an environment and infrastructure in Sligo which is conducive to the development of business, industry and commerce.
