Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2014
Sligo Chamber is delighted to play its part in Sligo hosting this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann from August 10th – 17th. Sligo is expecting to see as many as 300,000 visitors over this period and the Chamber sees this as a wonderful opportunity to Showcase Sligo to our many new visitors. Work has been underway for a long time in preparation for the Fleadh, and the Chamber is particularly grateful to the Local Fred Finn branch of Comhaltas who are voluntarily taking the lead in organising the main events.
As part of its contribution towards the overall preparations for the Fleadh, Sligo Chamber has taken the lead in the “In Tune with the Fleadh” Campaign. The campaign is centred around ensuring that our many visitors enjoy a welcoming experience in Sligo and that they will be encouraged to return with their friends and family. As part of the Campaign, Chamber members have signed up to a business charter where our members undertake to ensure that our visitors enjoy an experience of quality service with excellent value. In addition, members are encouraged to dress up their windows and to post photographs using #Sligointune on Social Media.
The Fleadh promises to be a very exciting time for Sligo providing an estimated €40m boost to the local economy. Local Business have been to the fore in financing the Fleadh along with contributions from the Local Authority and Failte Ireland. Sligo also expects to host the Fleadh in 2015 so no stone is been left unturned in our preparations. On that note, the Chamber is particularly proud of the efforts of Sligo Tidy Towns in having Sligo looking so well for our many visitors and extend our deep gratitude to all involved in the Tidy Towns committee.
