Speaker: John Keyes, Assistant Commissioner | Investigations, Office of the Data Protection Commissioner
John Keyes worked extensively as an investigator in the insurance claims sector for over 35 years and is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner. He went on to study law in 2009, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws degree from NUI Galway in 2013, and the Barrister-at-Law degree from King’s Inns, Dublin in 2015, following which he was called to the Irish Bar. John took up the position of Assistant Commissioner and Head of Investigations in the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in August 2015, based in the new Dublin Office. He oversees the investigations function of the Office which involves handling all complaints received from members of the public in relation to alleged infringements of their data protection and privacy rights, including the right of access to their own personal data.
